Chocolate Cosmos adds sophistication to the cutting garden and bouquets with deep maroon, almost black petals on long, wiry stems. This tender perennial thrives in full sun and warm summer conditions. Their fragrance evokes chocolate and vanilla, adding a sweet touch of kahlua to any floral arrangement, when used alone or in bouquets with other blooms. Typically grown as an annual, Chocolate Cosmos may overwinter in USDA zones 8 and higher. Similar to a Dahlia, the plants may grow tuberous roots that can be dug and stored for the winter.
'Cherry Chocolate' is the newest cultivar with a new color in chocolate cosmos. Color can vary from cherry red to light burgundy and flowers are quite large at 2.5 inches across.
'New Choco' is a newer, tidier version of chocolate cosmos that will bloom all summer long.
