Despite their delicate appearance, Godetia Grace are long lasting and highly productive flowering plants. Godetia is also known as Clarkia, or satin flower. Thriving in cool and dry conditions with poor fertility, the two-toned flower will bloom when days are longer than 12 hours.  Plant them under short days to allow the plant to establish before bud initiation.

Exactly What You'll Receive

  • Godetia Grace plug plants
  • 8 standard plug plants, roughly 1" x 1" x 2"
  • 1 recycled and reusable mini greenhouse

When to Plant

  • Flexible (Can tolerate cool soil or warm soil in spring)
  • Fall Planted (Approximately 6 weeks before your first frost date in the fall)

Godetia are a flower your Grandmother may have grown, and this nostalgic garden classic deserves a spot in everyone's cutting garden. When planted in the fall or early spring, Godetia will grow vegetatively, sending up spikes that are 2-3 feet tall with clusters of bright, punchy coral flowers in spring and early summer. If cut and brought inside to enjoy, you can expect a vase life of well over a week. If left in the garden, pollinators of every shape and size will come to investigate. Although these aren't the longest-lived plants, usually finishing their bloom cycle with the heat of mid-summer, their ephemeral beauty is remarkable.

Godetia is generally suitable for fall planting in USDA zones 8 and higher (unprotected), and Zones 7 and below with additional protection from a greenhouse, hoop house or frost cloth. This is strictly a guideline and we cannot guarantee winter survivability.
