Hot and Cold plays with opposite sides of the color wheel, with blues and oranges playfully complimenting and contrasting. Salpiglossis ‘Kew Blue’ boasts trumpets of deep, inky blue which contrasts incredibly well with the peaches, oranges and apricots of the remaining three varieties. Statice ‘Hipster Apricot’ comes in various hues, and the flowers dry incredibly well. Snapdragon ‘Madame Butterfly Bronze’ and Scabiosa ‘Salmon Queen’ both offer a unique warmth in their blooms in various sunset tones. This mix flowers in unison, adding a swath of color to the spring garden.

When to Plant

  • Cool Soil (About 2 weeks before your 'last frost' date in spring)
  • Fall Planted (Approximately 6 weeks before your first frost date in the fall)

The Hot and Cold collection is generally suitable for fall planting in USDA zones 8 and higher (unprotected), and Zones 7 and below with additional protection from a greenhouse, hoop house or frost cloth. Even in zone 8, salpiglossis may need protection during extreme lows. This is strictly a guideline and we cannot guarantee winter survivability.
