Hummingbird Poppies, a specialty strain developed by Biancheri in Italy, are prized for their tall, elegant stems and oversized, tissue-like blooms in an array of both rich, saturated and soft pastel colors.

Exactly What You'll Receive

  • Poppy Hummingbird plug plants
  • 8 standard plug plants roughly 1" x 1" x 2"
  • 1 recycled & reusable mini greenhouse

When to Plant

  • Cool Soil (About 2 weeks before your 'last frost' date in spring)
  • Fall Planted (Approximately 6 weeks before your first frost date in the fall)

Unlike typical Iceland poppies, this refined strain produces stronger stems, more uniform flowers and a longer vase life, making it ideal for cutting gardens and floral design. Each bloom seems to flutter like a hummingbird in flight: light, delicate, and irresistibly charming. Best planted in fall and protected with a low tunnel or frost cloth in colder zones, Hummingbird Poppies thrive in full sun and well-drained soil, producing an abundance of flowers that dance above airy, blue-green foliage. Their ephemeral beauty, fleeting but unforgettable, makes them a treasured addition to any garden or bouquet.

Poppy Hummingbird is generally suitable for fall planting in USDA zones 6 and higher (unprotected), and Zones 5 and below with additional protection from a greenhouse, hoop house or frost cloth. This is strictly a guideline and we cannot guarantee winter survivability.

**Our 'Mix' products are grown from a custom seed blend created by the breeder, and we cannot guarantee which colors you will receive. While the mix will likely produce the variety of shades shown, it's also possible for the blooms to be all one color or to slightly differ from the colors represented in the product photos.**
