Tall Phlox, also called summer Phlox or garden Phlox, is notorious for powdery mildew in some areas, but recent breeding has focused on more vigorous, slightly shorter, disease-resistant cultivars. Glamour Girl and its cousins Fashionably Early Crystal and Fashionably Early Princess all have some level of resistance, making them low-maintenance favorites of hands-off gardeners. Plant in a sunny, well-drained garden bed, where Glamour Girl begins blooming just as spring perennials fade, bringing new life and color to the garden. An early pinch sets the stage for long stems topped with hot starbursts of bright-rayed flowers. To bring some indoors, cut stems when a few blooms are open, cutting all the way to the ground; plants will resprout and rebloom the same year, giving you multiple flushes of flowers per season.
