Poppy Hummingbird Mix
8 Plugs Shipped in a Mini Greenhouse
Planting Guide:
Fall - plant approximately 4 weeks before your first hard freeze date. Poppies are more cold tolerant than many other plugs. Hummingbird poppies only ship in weeks 44, 45 and 46.
Poppy Hummingbird Mix is generally suitable for fall planting in USDA zones 7 and higher (unprotected), and Zones 6 and below with additional protection from a greenhouse, hoop house or frost cloth. This is strictly a guideline and we cannot guarantee winter survivability.
Early Spring (cold soil) - plant approximately 2 weeks before your last frost date.
Hummingbird Poppies, a specialty strain developed by Biancheri in Italy, are prized for their tall, elegant stems and oversized, tissue-like blooms in an array of both rich, saturated and soft pastel colors. Unlike typical Iceland poppies, this refined strain produces stronger stems, more uniform flowers and a longer vase life, making it ideal for cutting gardens and floral design. Each bloom seems to flutter like a hummingbird in flight - light, delicate, and irresistibly charming. Best planted in fall and protected with a low tunnel or frost cloth in colder zones, Hummingbird Poppies thrive in full sun and well-drained soil, producing an abundance of flowers that dance above airy, blue-green foliage. Their ephemeral beauty, fleeting but unforgettable, makes them a treasured addition to any garden or bouquet.
