Rudbeckia hirta is a very showy version of the more common black-eyed Susan that showcases large, single, daisy-like blooms with an ombré effect on the petals. Gardeners and pollinators alike love this variety for its prolific blooms and long blooming window.
Exactly What You’ll Receive
- Rudbeckia hirta plug plants
- 8 standard plug plants roughly 1" x 1" x 2"
- 1 recycled & reusable mini greenhouse
When to Plant
- Cool Soil (About 2 weeks before your 'last frost' date in spring)
- Fall Planted (Approximately 6 weeks before your first frost date in the fall)
Rudbeckia is an adaptable and a massively prolific stunner in a garden bed, attracting pollinators of all types. When planted in the sun and watered regularly, Rudbeckia will produce long tall stems that arrive not only the first year, but again and again! Their thick stems hold up the heavy bold flower head nicely and allow for a long vase life. While usually an annual, in some settings Rudbeckia will perennialize.
Rudbeckia hirta is generally suitable for fall planting in USDA zones 7 and higher (unprotected), and Zones 6 and below with additional protection from a greenhouse, hoop house or frost cloth. This is strictly a guideline and we cannot guarantee winter survivability.
