Snapdragon Madame Butterfly is a fanciful twist on the classic Snapdragon shape, with frilly, double blooms that add nostalgic romance to the garden border. Sometimes called azalea-type Snaps, Madame Butterfly is prized by gardeners and floral designers for their tall spikes, long vase life, and penchant for adding texture and height to bouquets and landscapes.
Choose from Pink or Ivory flowers to match the look of your garden design, or invite serendipity with multi-colored Madame Butterfly Mix.
Snapdragons are cool flowers that always benefit from a chilly start in the garden. Choose a full-sun spot for your plugs, and they will reward you with a steady display of abundant blooms that make superior cut flowers.
This variety can also be fall-planted in USDA zone 7 and higher without winter protection.
Successful overwintering of fall-planted Snaps in USDA zone 6 and below may require a greenhouse, hoop house, or frost cloth and low hoops. Fall planting plugs for spring flowers comes with the thrill of risk and reward; these recommendations are guidelines and not guarantees of winter survivability.
A note on Mix products: Mixed trays are grown from a custom seed blend created by the breeder, and we cannot guarantee which colors you will receive. While the mix will likely produce the variety of shades shown, it's also possible for the blooms to be all one color or to slightly differ from the colors represented in the product photos.
