When to Plant
-
Warm Soil (After all threat of frost has passed in spring)
Oklahoma zinnias thrive in warm weather and are easy to grow in sunny garden beds with well-drained soil. Plant after the threat of frost has passed and the soil has warmed. Harvest flowers regularly to encourage continued flowering throughout the summer, and remove spent blooms to keep plants productive. Avoid overly wet soil and provide good air circulation to help reduce the risk of foliar diseases.
