Digitalis lanata Café Crème is an extraordinary, short-lived perennial that brings a sophisticated, mocha-inspired color palette to both gardens and floral arrangements. Forming a rosette of green leaves in the first year, this plant will flower on tall spires of bell-shaped blooms after its first winter chill.

Exactly What You’ll Receive

  • Digitalis Café Crème plug plants
  • 8 standard plug plants roughly 1" x 1" x 2"
  • 1 recycled & reusable mini greenhouse

When to Plant

  • Flexible (Can tolerate cool soil or warm soil in spring)
  • Fall Planted (Approximately 6 weeks before your first frost date in the fall)

With its unique blend of brown and white blooms, this variety offers a rich, textural look that stands out in the cut flower garden. Typically flowering in its second year, it’s best planted in the spring or summer for an early-season display the following year. This variety is said to be hardy to zone 5, but it may even prove hardier than expected, surviving winters as cold as zone 3 with adequate snow cover. This variety will perform best if planted in full sun to partial shade, in well-draining soil. Café Crème is a hard-to-find and stylish choice for gardeners seeking something truly distinctive.

Digitalis Digitalis Café Crème is generally suitable for fall planting in USDA zones 5 and higher (unprotected), and Zones 4 and below with additional protection from a greenhouse, hoop house or frost cloth. This is strictly a guideline and we cannot guarantee winter survivability.
