Ship Week

Digitalis x Mertonensis (8 plugs)
Ship Week
Digitalis x Mertonensis is a hybrid of a biennial and a perennial foxglove and it can live for 2-3 years. Although there is a chance you'll see some flowers in the first year, the best flowering can be expected in year 2. "Crushed Strawberries" is often used to describe the color which is a unique combination of pinks.
Exactly What You’ll Receive
- Digitalis x Mertonensis plug plants
- 8 standard plug plants roughly 1" x 1" x 2"
- 1 recycled & reusable mini greenhouse
When to Plant
- Flexible (Can tolerate cool soil or warm soil in spring)
- Fall Planted (Approximately 6 weeks before your first frost date in the fall)
Typically performing more like a biennial, this Digitalis will form a beautiful rosette of green foliage the year it is planted and requires a cold winter period to trigger flowering. Fall-planted Digitalis x Mertonensis should flower in the spring after receiving this vernalization period. If planted in the spring and early summer, you will see beautiful spires of mid-spring blooms in the following year.
Digitalis x Mertonensis is generally suitable for fall planting in USDA zones 6 and higher (unprotected), and Zones 5 and below with additional protection from a greenhouse, hoop house or frost cloth. This is strictly a guideline and we cannot guarantee winter survivability.
