Salpiglossis, also known as Painted Tongue, is a striking annual that captivates with its beautiful jewel tones and trumpet-shaped flowers adorned with velvety textures and unique chevron throats.

Exactly What You’ll Receive

  • Salpiglossis plug plants
  • 8 standard plug plants roughly 1" x 1" x 2"
  • 1 recycled & reusable mini greenhouse

When to Plant

  • Flexible (Plant anytime from 2 weeks before your last frost date to after it has passed)
  • Fall Planted (Approximately 6 weeks before your first frost date in the fall)

We are currently offering two varieties: Kew Blue, a deep inky indigo, and Royale Mix, which contains multiple colors. Reaching heights of 2 to 2.5 feet, Salpiglossis thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, making it a perfect addition to cutting gardens and garden borders. While the plant's sticky stems may require careful handling, the dramatic blooms are well worth the effort, attracting pollinators and adding a unique twist to any floral arrangement.

Salpiglossis is generally suitable for fall planting in USDA zones 8 and higher (unprotected), and Zones 7 and below with additional protection from a greenhouse, hoop house or frost cloth. In warmer zones it will actively grow through the winter and flower in the early spring, and in cooler zones it will start flowering late spring and early summer. This is strictly a guideline and we cannot guarantee winter survivability.
