Nigella Miss Jekyll Mix is a classic cut flower known for its finely divided, fern-like foliage and clear, soft blooms in shades of blue, white, and pink. Nigella's common name, Love-in-Mist, borrows from the misty lace of bracts surrounding the delicate blue flower. Flowers are followed by distinctive inflated seed pods that dry well and extend the plant’s ornamental value long after bloom.
Exactly What You'll Receive
- Nigella Miss Jekyll Mix plug plants
- 8 standard plug plants roughly 1" x 1" x 2"
- 1 recycled & reusable mini greenhouse
When to Plant
- Cool Soil (About 2 weeks before your 'last frost' date in spring)
- Fall Planted (Approximately 6 weeks before your first frost date in the fall)
Nigella is easy as pie to grow, but not always easy to start from seed. Once planted, Nigella establishes quickly, and if planted a few inches apart in a patch, will fill in the patch nicely. They are a lovely plant to fill in bare spots in a perennial bed. If plants are left to go to the seed pod stage, expect to see lovely volunteers in your garden the following year. Plants reach 24 inches tall and perform best in full sun and well-drained soil. Suitable for transplanting in cool weather, this hardy annual is easy to grow, self-seeds readily, and provides material for both fresh and dried arrangements.
